WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT FROM YOU?

We will only collect sufficient information from you in order to be able to process your claim on your behalf. In most circumstances we are contractually bound by our requirements as your nominated claims handler as specified by either your broker or insurer. The information we may collect could include the following: your name, address, contact details, date of birth, details of the circumstances of the claim or incident and any damage or loss suffered by you.

WHO IS COLLECTING IT?

Motor Accident Group Ltd will collect information from you. We will only collect sufficient information to provide you with services that we are contracted to provide or additional services that you give your consent to.

HOW IS IT COLLECTED?

Information is collected through our claims notification process. This can be electronically or manually. Information is also received from our contracted business partners to enable fulfilment of motor claims.

WHERE DO WE STORE YOUR INFORMATION?

All which is provided to us is stored on secure servers. Access to this data centre is restricted and we employ appropriate security measures to protect your information stored on our servers.

WHO DO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH?

In order to fulfil both our contractual obligations and our obligations to you, we will share information with business, partners, suppliers and sub-contractors for the performance of any contract we enter into with you or them.  We will not share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes without your consent.

HOW LONG DO WE KEEP IT FOR?

We will keep your information for six years after your claim has completed. If for any reason we do not provide you with services, we will delete your personal information from our records. 

HOW WILL WE USE THE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU?

We will use information to enable us to decide if we can provide services to you and:

  • The administration and management of your claim.
  • To provide services ancillary to your claim, for example, car replacement hire, vehicle repair, insurance products and legal services.
  • To comply with any laws or regulations.
  • We will keep your personal information confidential and will take appropriate measures to protect it against loss, theft or misuse and to safeguard your privacy.

In the course of providing our services to you, we may need to communicate your personal information to parties involved in your claim including but not limited to:

  • Vehicle rental companies for the purpose of obtaining a replacement car.
  • Insurance underwriters for the purpose of assessing and validating your claim or to enable them to provide cover under an insurance policy.
  • Insurance companies/brokers who referred your claim to us for the purpose of complying with our contractual obligations regarding details of the claim we process.
  • Repairers and/or engineers to ensure your vehicle is appropriately appraised and repaired.

In dealing with your claim, we may also transfer your information to organisations providing us with support and administrative services for the more efficient processing of your claim. Your details will be processed in each case in strict confidence and we have set up adequate measures to ensure that your privacy is protected when transferring your data to third parties for the purposes of providing our services to you.  Unfortunately the transmission of data over the internet is never completely secure.

ELECTRONIC INFORMATION

Some information about website users is collected automatically and this may be used by us to monitor and analyse how our site is used by visitors. The process does not, however, identify any individual persons using the site. We do not collect cookies.

We do not charge you a fee for referring you to our panel of specialist personal injury lawyers; we receive a monthly marketing fee from the specialist personal injury lawyers we refer you to. This marketing fee is not passed on to you and does not impact the way a lawyer will handle your claim.
